Region of York Quilters Guild

Naomi and Mike Babineau are regional representatives for Quilts of Valour Canada. Quilts of Valour Canada support our military armed forces members past and present who have been injured in the line of duty with quilts of comfort made by Canadians from across Canada. When an injured military member is nominated for a Quilt of Valour in our region, we are notified, and we contact that person and arrange a date to present them with their Quilt of Valour. You will never know the impact this gesture makes on our soldiers and their families until you present a quilt. They are honoured beyond belief and so grateful to all the quilters out there who make these Quilts.

The Region of York Quilters Guild have long supported Quilts of Valour Canada through making quilts and raising funds to purchase fabric. Since 2021 members have made 75 Quilts of Valour and many more Quilt blocks. Each year members participate in the National Sew Day where members from across Canada get together in person or online to sew quits for the day. In our Guild 30 or more members gather at the Legion in Aurora for a fun day sewing for Quilts of Valour. This year we were able to present 3 quilts to deserving Veterans at the Sew Day giving our members a taste of what it is like to present a Quilt of Valour. We are a great team who honour our Canadian Military members past and present.
