A Creative Exploration by Celeste Campion
The world of quilting is much more than needle and thread—it is an ever-evolving tapestry of colour, texture, and personal expression. For Celeste Campion, this journey has unfolded across years of exploration, experimentation, and a passionate pursuit of beauty through fabric and design. In her much-anticipated trunk show, “My Quilt Colour Journey,” Celeste invites us to travel alongside her as she traces the winding path that has defined her creative life. Learn a bit about the Meerkat Shweshwe fabrics she imports from South Africa and the inspiration these fabrics bring to her creations.
In this power point lecture Gunnel will show you how you can print on fabric using “found objects” from A (for Apple) to Z (for Zipper). While screen printing was her first and enduring love, she also loves using ordinary objects to create patterns. So far she must have a collection of 30+ different potato mashers, which she uses to create an infinite variety of patterns and textures. The sole of a pair of winter boots, a golf ball, hair curlers, irons, credit cards – and of course potato mashers – no textured thing is safe from experimenting!. Enjoy the experience and learn how these everyday objects can become the basis for colourful fabrics to use in your quilts!
