Christie is a textile artist whose work celebrates the intricacy and wonder of the natural world. Her medium-to-large-scale textile collages invite the viewer to pause and be immersed in the sights, sounds, and even scents of the world outside our front doors, too often overlooked in our modern technological age. Christie uses a raw-edge, fused collage technique, built with layers of commercial and hand-dyed cottons and batiks. She is a former graphic designer, web designer, and vlog producer.

We are in for a real treat! Here is Christie’s description about her experience:

“I am not a teaching/touring quilt professional, just ridiculously passionate about art quilting. I also have lived my entire quilting life in relatively remote places from the wider quilt world (the United Arab Emirates for 21 yrs and Qatar for 3+ yrs), and have been the only SAQA member in each of those countries for most of the time since I joined in 2021."

Her presentation will include:

a glimpse into Christie’s quilting journey and discovery of art quilting in Abu Dhabi, UAE,
visuals of Christie’s quilts from the early days until the present,
the challenges of a quilter living in the Middle East and the very different shopping experiences there, and
the incredible inspiration to be found living on the Arabian Peninsula
