My mother Naomi appliquéd the butterfly blocks using scraps from dressmaking. She used bleached sugar and flour sacks for the backgrounds. She died before she could quilt the quilt so I finished it. I added two more borders to make it larger.

I entered it in the Lindsay Central Exhibition and won first prize in the group category. I was pleased that my mother has now been recognized for her quilting.
